Alignment Commands

There are five main commands for the alignment window:

  1. Split
  2. Merge
  3. Delete
  4. Swap
  5. Move To

You can select the first four from the buttons at the top of the window or from the Actions menu. All commands are available by right clicking on a cell and selecting a command.

Split

Use this command to split one cell into two segments. This is useful when one segment corresponds to two or more segments in the other language, such as when one sentence has been translated as two sentences, or when two sentences have been translated as one.

Select the cell to split, and use the menu, button, or right-click context menu to split it. When you do, the Split window appears; split the segment appropriately, and click OK. The segment is split into two.

Merge

Use this command to merge two or more cells into one segment. This is useful when one segment corresponds to two or more segments in the other language, such as when one sentence has been translated as two sentences, or when two sentences have been translated as one.

Select the cells to merge, and use the menu, button, or right-click context menu to merge them. The cells are combined into a single cell.

Delete

Use this command to delete one or more cells, for example when it hasn't been translated or when you don't want to add a segment to your memory. Select the cells to delete, and use the menu, button, or right-click context menu to delete them.

Swap

Use this command to swap the locations of two cells. This is useful when the segments have been translated out of order (e.g. the translation for the last sentence in a source-segment paragraph was moved to the beginning of the paragraph), or when the segmentation order was changed due to different document formatting.

Click and drag to select two or more cells, and then use the menu, button, or right-click context menu to swap them. If you select more than two cells, the top and bottom cells are swapped.

You can also control-click the two cells to swap, and then click the Swap button (or use the menu command, etc.).

MoveTo

Click a cell, then right click and select Move To... Enter the row number to move the cell to, and click Enter.
